Heather Schoepflin, 28, pleaded guilty Monday in Marilla Town Court to one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

The charges stem from an incident back in March of 2017, at a mobile home park on Hemstreet Road in the Town of Marilla. The charges say Schoepflin failed to seek medical care for her 2-year-old son, Ethan Bigham, when he suffered visible bruising and other injuries while under the carer of the babysitter, Devon VanDerWege. She has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for the crime of manslaughter in the first degree.

Schoepflin is scheduled to be back in court for sentencing on October 16. She faces up to a year in jail.
