October is Domestic Abuse Prevention Education month.
How does abuse of women and children tie in with civil and human rights violations? Because several forms of non-physical abuse are still considered legal in the United States, thus violating their right to “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”
One example would be coercive control which is now criminalized in the United Kingdom.
Other examples of legal abuse would be: the manipulation of the family court system to impoverish a mother post-judgement, using the children to gain control of a former partner by seeking sole parental custody, and by interfering with the mother-child relationship.
