The August death of a 5-year-old South Side boy has been ruled a homicide, authorities said.

Raamse Lan’Pharay Morris, of the 6100 block of South Eberhart Avenue in the West Woodlawn neighborhood, died of multiple injuries from child abuse, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

On Tuesday, Raamse’s death was ruled a homicide, according to the medical examiner’s office.

Police officers were called to his home on Aug. 5 for a report of an unresponsive child, said Officer Michelle Tannehill, a spokeswoman for the Chicago police.

He was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead that night at 7:07 p.m., according to the medical examiner’s office.

No one was custody Tuesday afternoon and the homicide investigation is ongoing, Tannehill said.

A spokeswoman for the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services did not immediately have any information.
