Long Island foster dad accused of sexually abusing eight children in his care acquitted on all charges
By Laura Fogerty
A Long Island foster dad, in a stunning Tuesday verdict, was acquitted of years of serial sexual abuse against eight helpless boys sent to share his suburban home.
A divided Suffolk County jury, after seven emotional days of deliberations, cleared accused predator Cesar Gonzales-Mugaburu of all 17 counts brought against him in the high-profile prosecution.
He was acquitted despite graphic and grotesque testimony from all eight of the foster kids about the horrors they endured in his home between 1996 and 2015.
Several jurors had tears in their eyes after returning with the verdict around 11:30 a.m.
