What I found when I gave my children a voice

Maybe you were like me and you grew up in a home where “because I said so” was used so often that you put it at the top of your “I’m never going to do that when I grow up” list.

I truly went into parenting with absolute surety that these four words would never leave my lips and I did really good job for the first two or three years.

But somewhere around when I was raising kids in the “Why?” stage of life, you know the one, “Why is the moon white, mommy?” “Why do I have to wear clothes everyday?” “Why do I have to pick up my toys?” “Why?” “Why?” “Why?” That I finally huffed out, “Because I said so!”

 And that was it.
