JOLIET, Ill. (April 11, 2017) – In honor of National Child Abuse Prevention Month, CASA of Will County is issuing a call to action for residents of Illinois to stand against child abuse and take action to support children who have been abused or neglected.

At any given time, there are 382 children in foster care in Will County. These children come into the child welfare system through no fault of their own. CASA works to train volunteer advocates to act as the voice of children involved in the juvenile court system.

“The needs of Will County’s children coming into care are more complicated than ever before, and life in foster care can be chaotic,” said Rita Facchina, Executive Director. “Every child deserves the support of caring, consistent adult with the training to help them heal and thrive.”

Throughout the month of April, CASA of Will County is calling on members of the community to help our program serve more of Will County’s most vulnerable children. CASA has a number of ways you can help through donations, supporting our events, and learning more about our training program and becoming a CASA. The next training dates for members of the community interested in becoming a CASA are July 15, 18, 20, 22, 25, 26. Those interested should visit
