Bring Sex Abusers to Justice

Research by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows that 1 in 5 children will be sexually abused. An epidemic greater than childhood cancer and an epidemic that dramatically increases the risk of the seven leading causes of death in America.

The problem…

New York’s Statute of Limitations ensures that most offenders will get away with it, again and again. One out of five of New York’s children will be sexually abused by their 18th birthday.

The solution…

The Child Victims Act (S 809) eliminates the state’s Statute of Limitations for child sexual abuse in criminal court and civil court, and gives adult victims a year in which they can sue their abusers and the institutions that facilitated their abuse.
