Stop Abuse Campaign

The Stop Abuse Campaign prevents Adverse Childhood Experiences (Childhood trauma) through public policy and public education. We choose specific, actionable campaigns that resonate with the public and help protect children from trauma like abuse and neglect. We have a well read blog that educates about child abuse, domestic violence, trauma prevention and recovery. We work with over 300,000 supporters engaging them in our campaigns to prevent abuse. Fortunately, a lot is known about protecting children from trauma. And preventing trauma is what we do at the Stop Abuse Campaign.

WE SUPPORT:

Universal access to Maternal Home Visiting for all willing, eligible new families.

Implementation of best practices that have been shown to decrease rates of domestic violence crime.

Elimination of the Statutes of Limitations for Child Sexual Abuse that keep children’s rapists on the streets and their victims from justice.

The Safe Child Act, that makes family courts safe for kids and keeps custody courts from awarding custody of children to abusers.

Educating adults about child sexual abuse and its prevention, through access to evidence based programs and raising awareness of their importance.

Discussion of child maltreatment and domestic violence, destigmatizing the issues, and giving survivors the tools they need to heal.

Protect Children

6 out of 10 children suffer trauma regardless of economic status. Current systems keep most kids alive, but kids deserve more. They deserve not to be maltreated. And an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
